CW Trainer - Help

How does the site work?

CW Trainer offers two main practice modes:

RX – receive practice

In RX mode, the program plays random Morse characters. Your task is to identify the characters you hear.

Practice sets

Custom character set

In Custom mode, you can choose which characters you want to practice. Enter the characters in the Practice characters field.

At least two characters are required to start the exercise.

Supported characters:

Koch method

The Koch method is an effective technique for learning Morse code. Practice starts with two characters: K and M . When you reach 90% accuracy , the program recommends adding a new character.

This makes learning gradual, clear, and less overwhelming.

The character order is designed so that the rhythm of the characters is easy to distinguish, similar-sounding characters are less likely to be confused, and more difficult signs are introduced later.

The * character is the error signal.

TX – send practice

In TX mode, you can practice sending Morse code.

You can send Morse code using:

The key code sent by a VBand-type USB interface depends on the firmware or configuration of that specific interface. If your interface does not work properly with CW Trainer, please let me know.

The system recognizes dots and dashes, then evaluates the characters you sent.

Sending type

When Sending type is selected, three practice modes are available:

Follow me

The program plays a Morse character, and you need to send the same character. If you send it correctly, the next character follows. If you make a mistake, the program repeats the same character.

Text practice

The program displays a random amateur radio-themed text that must be sent in Morse code. The exercise follows the selected WPM setting. The upper line shows the text to send, while the lower line shows the decoded transmission. Correct characters are displayed in the normal color, while incorrect characters appear in red. A new exercise can be loaded at any time using the New text button.

Free text

In this mode, you can send Morse code freely. The program tries to recognize and display the characters you send.
